Twitter Advertising – Now only on Twitter? – Twitter cuts the cord

With a claimed focus on “clarity and focus” Twitter have moved to effectively ban third party advertising on their network. Businesses such as Ad.Ly, who have been competing with Twitter for advertising dollars, will no longer be able to sell tweets through the network, or else be in contravention of the terms of service.

It is expected that their API accounts will probably be disabled over the next few months, as Twitter moves to make life difficult. The timing is probably doubly embarrassing for Ad.Ly because not only were they offering stupid sums of money for tweets, but they have also just raised $5 million worth of funding.

Most other bloggers and reporters around the web have said that it was probably inevitable and that it is probably a good thing too. With less advertising on the service maybe will be able to focus on core business, where the stars are having lunch etc.

On another note, I would like to introduce you to two new services, Remote Marketing and Integrated Marketing.  If you are looking for a way to grow your business, contact us at info@creativedevelopment.com.au for more information.
